Deadpool and Wolverine
Wow, did we need this one!
The Marvel Cinematic Universe made a lot of promises with Deadpool & Wolverine, and although they over-delivered in many ways, they underachieved with the importance this movie has in the overall MCU. With that said…. IT DOESN’T FUCKING MATTER! It was awesome! What I mean by underachieved is, I felt this was the unspoken direction. You’ll see what I mean when you watch it. It’s minor compared to the amazingness this movie is. It is, at its heart, a true love letter to Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine.
The surprises are endless in this installation, and it does set a new bar for the MCU that we haven’t seen in years, and will be tough to beat going forward. Disney has a way to squander momentum, and we can’t make every movie R-rated, but somehow this movie makes me less excited about Captain America: Brave New World. I want more Deadpool and Wolverine/X-Men. The latest Captain America looks boring, predictable and just overall uninteresting now. Also, they gave away the big surprise of Red Hulk in the trailer (which I’m sure many expected anyway).
Another thing I have to give credit to Deadpool & Wolverine for, with the exception of one word used in the movie, is that they walk a fine balance of comedic non-PC moments that work very well to make everyone happy! I haven’t laughed my ass off this much while at the same time saying “ohhhhhhh man” in a while.
Many times, I legit said out loud, “this is awesome!” and nobody heard me because they were also in awe. And I hate talking in movies!
I will not spoil anything about Deadpool & Wolverine, but it’s been a long time since a movie came out that I want to see again in theaters. Turns out, I’ve seen 2 this month that did that. Longlegs and now Deadpool & Wolverine! Go see this one in theaters!
